• By Train: Rishikesh or Haridwar. I prefer Rishikesh as it is easier to find shared taxis (approx. ₹800 -₹1,000 per seat) heading to Joshimath.
• The Ropeway (Gondola):Auli is the crown jewel; this 4.15 km ride from Joshimath costs around ₹1,000 round trip. As Asia is the longest ropeway, it offers stunning bird’s-eye views of the oak forests.

3. Packing Essentials: You need “Layering.” A base thermal layer, a mid-layer fleece, and a heavy waterproof outer jacket. Do not wear jeans in the snow-once they get wet, they stay wet and cold.
4. Stay Hydrated: High altitude dehydrates you faster than you realize. Carry a reusable water bottle and keep sipping.
